Zen Garden: Black Lace & Red Silk

If you know me, you know i have a thing for kimonos. By ‘thing’ i mean an obsession. On lazy days or revision days my uniform is red silk kimono pants and an old t-shirt. I wear oversized kimono tops as pyjamas and the list could continue. …in fact in my yearbook a friend actually wrote ‘i’ll miss your kimono wearing self!’

Now that you’re familiar with  the context, you’ll understand this outfit a little more. This look is something entirely new to me, a bit of an experiment actually, which is a huge surprise considering it includes two of my most worn pieces. This black leather pleated skirt has carried me safely through winter and if it wasn’t for the fleece lining it would escort me through summer also. On this occasion I paired it with a new black lace crop top. It’s from ‘diffuse’, which i preferred over the topshop lace crops out at the moment because its elasticated (meaning its actually possible to get on) and the lace is harsher than the delicate floral topshop pattern. I also wore this aforementioned kimono as a kind-of bolero style jacket with rolled up sleeves. All black everything has been my daily colour scheme as of recent so it was nice to throw in a pop of red.

I feel that the choice of socks with these stiletto pumps were very ‘man repeller’: black and white  pin stripe with pop art red lips!Lace top Diffuse @ Ark, leather skirt Hearts & Bows @ ark, kimono jacket Primark, necklace and bracelets handmade/market stalls, Shoes Guess via giveaway, socks Dorothy Perkins Follow this blog on bloglovin
